Exhibited London, Royal Academy, 1831, no. 233. London, British Institution, 1832, no. 264. (as 'Landscape withBeech Trees [sic] and Figures'). Lot Notes When the picture was exhibited at the British Institution theTimes described it as '[of] powerful execution and... good taste'and remarked that it had been 'badly placed' at the Royal Academythe previous year, but has 'very much improved by some judiciousalterations'. We are grateful to Kenneth Westwood for his help in preparing thiscatalogue entry.
