Hermanus Koekkoek Jun. (Amsterdam 1836-1909 London) A schooner in a choppy sea signed and dated 'H Koekkoek 1861' (lower left) oil on canvas 64,5 x 92 cm. remnants of a red wax seal on the reverse Hermanus Junior was a student of his father and followed in his footsteps as a sea painter. In 1869 he left for London where he settled as an art dealer and painted mostly under the pseudonym J. van Couver.
