Lot 589 Klaus Karl Otto Ihlenfeld (German/American, b. 1934) Untitled Initialed "KI" on one protrusion. Welded bronze, approximately 10 1/2 in. (26.7cm) diameter. Condition: Minor surface grime. N.B. Ihlenfeld trained at the Hochschule für BildendeKünste in West Berlin from 1950 to 1956, and completedgraduate work with the metal sculptor Hans Uhlmann. Hefirst visited the United States in 1957 for a group show at theNorth Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh, and metHarry Bertoia the same year. He worked in the BertoiaStudio for a period, returning to West Berlin in 1958 toopen his own workshop and gallery. Ihlenfeld visited theUnited States a second time in 1960, widely-exhibiting andeventually settling in Pennsylvania. Estimate $1,000-1,500
