Framed 29" x 41"." Condition Relined. Crazing throught the top third of the canvas. Some inpaint repair to the sky, two spots of inpaint to address the lifting paint above the ship on right. Dirty, inconsistent varnish. Frame with losses.

22 William John Huggins (1781-1845): Table Bay, Cape of Good Hope Engraving with hand-coloring on wove paper, 1824, published by Hurst Robinson & Co., London. 19 1/2 x 28 in. (sight), 27 x 35 in. (frame). Condition: With margins. Very pale mat staining. Remains of old glue and some creasing in the margins. Taped to the overmat with clear tape at the reverse of the sheet edges.

WILLIAM JOHN HUGGINS United Kingdom, 1781-1845 The Frigate H.M.S. Curagos Under the Command of Captain Tower off Toulon, 1812 in a Squall". Signed lower right "Wm Huggins". Handwritten label affixed to stretcher describes the scene. From an Important Private Collection, Greenwich, Connecticut. Oil on canvas, 45.75" x 69". Framed 56" x 78.5"." Condition Overall in very good condition. The canvas has been re-lined. Under UV exam there is minor scattered in-paint to the sky and sea. There is a band of craquelure in fill with corresponding in-paint across the center and through the ship. This is a typical British restoration and is well down.
