Monogrammed "RH" l.r., identified on a handwritten gummed label affixed to the
stretcher.
Oil on canvas, 17 x 12 in. (43.3 x 30.8 cm), framed.
Condition: Lined, retouch, craquelure, surface grime.
Estimate $3,000-3,500
Four small areas of retouch located along the bottom of the composition, mainly confined to the lower two inches, and none affecting the figure. The largest area of retouch measures 2 x 1/2 in., with two small dots above and is located 2 inches up from bottom at left. Fine, stable craquelure. Stretcher bar mark along the right side. Area of varnish inconsistency to u.l. background.
