Lot Notes
Hayward studied at the Royal College of Art and the Slade. Hepainted portraits and landscapes, often in an impressionisticstyle, and occasionally in a more mannered technique that revealshis parallel vocation as a mural decorator. Hayward was drawn toriver subjects, which allowed him to experiment with light effects.The present picture may depict his wife, Cecily.
