Description:
GERALD HARVEY JONES (AMERICAN, 1933 - ) "CITY LIGHTS".
Outstanding oil on canvas western night time scene shows a four horse pulled stagecoach with lanterns at front stopping beside a hotel while another man ties his horse to a railing. A man with duster and hat holds the team and there are three passengers by at the hotel entrance. In the background are other pedestrians and buildings with some gas lights and inside entry lights. The lights reflect on the recent snow and there are dark clouds with patches of light blue. Signed lower left, "G. HARVEY - 1980". Housed in a fine modern gilt antique-style frame with gilt liner. Label on reverse from J. N. BARTFIELD GALLERIES, NEW YORK" with artist, title, etc. The title is written on back of stretcher. SIZE: 24" x 30". PROVENANCE: From the artist via J. N. Bartfield Galleries to present consignor. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. 9-20334 (40,000-50,000)
