Each painting is relined; each painting has some scattered retouch and restoration to parts of horse and areas outside of horse – e.g. in areas of foreground, background. Sycee and The Baron being in better overall condition than Oxonian and Fille de l'Air. Under u.v. light, each of the horses appears to show pale varnish with darker highlights clearly visible. These highlights appear to be restored areas, rather than hue changes indicative of certain pigments – e.g. dark brown. Overall, each of these paintings is in only fair to poor condition
