Lot Notes
Gonzaga worked as a stage designer at the Teatro della Scala,Milan, before moving to Saint Petersburg in 1793. There he designedstage decorations for the Imperial Theatre. The two presentdrawings were executed during the artist's Russian period and havea Russian provenance. A drawing by Gonzaga similar in size andstyle was with Flavia Ormond, Italian Old Master Drawings, NewYork, 1997, no. 14.
