Charles Isaac Ginner CBE ARA, British 1878-1952- The Harbour, Boscastle; coloured chalks, pen and black ink on laid paper, 24x33cm (ARR) Provenance: Christie's, London, 9 June 1978, lot 72. According to the catalogue: 'Drawn in 1934 while the artist was staying with his sister Mrs Ginner-Dyer. A study for the painting of the same subject (coll. Mrs Ginner-Dyer).' A copy of this catalogue text is attached to the reverse of the frame. Note: Further handwritten inscriptions to the reverse of the frame state: 'purchased from Ernest Jenkinson by Phil Bartlett, February 2001' and 'Graves Art Gallery, Sheffield'. For two oil paintings of the same scene by the artist, see Christie's London, 12 June 1987, lot 260 and Christie's London, 7 March 1991, lot 40.
