Gilbert Gaul (American, 1855-1919) A Fisherman's Home Signed "Gilbert Gaul." l.l., titled in pencil on the reverse. Oil on artist board, 18 x 24 in. (45.8 x 61.0 cm), framed. Condition: Drill hole to l.l. edge, paint losses and wear to edges of the board, craquelure, discolored varnish, surface grime. Titled in pencil "9 A Fishermans Home" on the reverse. Also inscribed in chalk in a later hand "..ete.../2920" on the reverse and stamped "MAY 25 1961" on verso. The work might benefit from cleaning.
