Lot Notes The artist spent his whole career in Amsterdam and dated worksare known between 1647 and 1672. However, little else is knownabout his life. Works by the artist are rare; only two othervanitas still lifes are known; one, dated 1666, sold at Sotheby's,London, 30 November 1983 and another dated 1667, formerly with Rappand published by Bernt (see W. Bernt, Netherlandish Painters of theSeventeenth Century, Munich, 1969, I, p. 391,illustrated).
