Estes uses fifty to over one hundred colors for each image in this portfolio, with the result being a highly realistic image, often including glass and reflective surfaces which are similar to his paintings. Executed in 1982, this color screenprint on Fabriano Cottone is signed and numbered ninety-eight from an edition of two hundred and fifty. From the portfolio, Urban Landscapes III , the work was printed by Parasol Press, Ltd., New York, and published by Domberger, Stuttgart. The image measures 14 x 20 ? inches. In overall good condition with no stains, toning, tears or repairs. Richard Estes (American, b. 1932) Considered a founder of the Photorealist movement, Richard Estes is best known for his paintings of city scenes in New York. Compiling his compositions from multiple source photographs, Estes reconstructs reality in highly convincing renderings. He often incorporates reflective surfaces, such as shop windows and shiny cars, yielding mirrored imagery that serves to enhance what the naked eye is capable of perceiving. His works can be found in institutions worldwide, including the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The Museum of Modern Art; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Tate Gallery, London; Ludwig Múzeum, Budapest, among many others.
