This painting is sold with a photocopy of the original Red RockArt documentation that reads in part: "This work shows country nearMulan Community at Lake Gregory. Sugarbag is the term used todescribe bush honey. In the desert regions south of Halls Creek inW.A. a number of plants provide a nectar when flowering. One suchplant a small Grevillia, flowers profusely after the wet season andeach flower drips with nectar which can be eaten directly from theplant. A recent trip from Emu Creek (where the artist lives) toLake Gregory inspired this work."

A label verso, written by the artist records that 'Alexander' wasbuilt for T & J Brocklebank by Harland and Wolf in 1863, andconsidered to be one of the finest ships of her time.
The vessel is depicted with paddle tugs manoeuvring her into theMersey. This operation was particluarly challenging for squarerigged sailing ships, working in the narrow confines of theMersey.
