Lot 10 CORNELIS DROOCHSLOOT (dutch 1630-ca. 1673) A VILLAGE KERMESSE Signed with initials and dated c.d. 1664(?) lower center, oil on cradled panel 14 3/4 x 19 in. (37.5 x 48.3cm) provenance: Private Collection, Rhode Island. Estimate $2,000-3,000 Painting is in generally good condition, with only minor re-touch visible under UV light: small area with re-touch near edge of panel at lower center right, associated with surface craquelure, and minor re-touch associated with a thin, horizontal crack in panel at left, with re-touch in part of tree and cottage at left. Otherwise, under UV, panel looks to be in original, unrestored condition. Painting is dirty/in need of cleaning. Some darkened areas of sky, as visible in catalogue photo, do not appear to us to be restored-instead appears as varnish inconsistencies/dirt. At lower right edge, small crack in panel just above frame; aforementioned crack in panel at center left is approximately 6 in. long; additional minor surface scuffs/thin scratch marks. The aforementioned surface craquelure at center lower right edge with associated minor paint loss and thin cracking to panel Sold for $13,000
