Lot Notes
Trained in Antwerp, Paris and at the Slade, Johnstone Douglashad by the 1890s established a reputation as a painter of societyportraits. During the First World War he was employed as a painterof 'dazzle ships': the largest single body of his work is now inthe collection of the Imperial War Museum, London.
