Lot 118: Edward Julius Detmold (British, 1883-1957)
Two etchings "The Phoenix" and "The Eagle" A falcon perched on a branch with raised wing above a circular gold dandelion motif, artist's monogram within the plate and signed in pencil, "E.J. Detmold." An eagle, on a rock seen from the front and turned partially to the left, one wing raised the other lowered. A shield containing the word 'Amitie' hangs by a strap from the bough of a flowering bush. The monograms of the Detmold brothers appear in the plate in the upper corners. Signed by E.J. Detmold and C.M.D. in pencil. Phoenix: 11" x 8, frame: 18" x 14 1/4" Eagle: 4 3/4" x 4 3/4", frame: 9 1/4" x 8 3/4"
