Togores spent the prime of his career, from 1919 until 1930, in Paris, where he mingled with members of the Montmartre avant-garde including Soutine and Picasso (Picasso and Togores were both represented by dealer Daniel Kahnweiler). Paisaje con árboles also shows the influence of Cézanne in its restricted palette and subtle tonal range.
