CLARA D. DAVIDSON (American, 1874-1962) THEGRAPE ARBOR. Oil on canvas scene shows several women harvestinggrapes from a large grape arbor which looks out over water withsailboats. Two children have grabbed a bunch and are eating them onthe side. Signed lower right. Housed in a fine carved and giltreplacement frame with gilt and carved liner with gilt wood artistplaque. Scattered inpainting inthe sky and along the frame rubbing and possibly other areas of thepainting - it is difficult to distinguish between the artist'spigments and restoration in some areas, as some pigments fluorescenaturally under UV light.
