Frederick George Cotman (British 1850-1920) Cottages signed bottom right "F.G. Cotman" watercolour h:22.50 w:19.50 cm Other Notes: Cotman lived in Hemingford Grey c.1910. He exhibited 2 paintings, 'At the Lock' and 'St Ives', at the Royal Institue of Painters in Watercolours, London. Frederic Cotman was another local painter that mainly used both the mediums of oil paints and watercolours. RI 1882 ROI 1883 nephew of John Sell Cotman of Norwich School of painters. His watercolours were purchased by Leighton and Watts. 1901-2 'Aquires a studio at Hemingford Grey'. presumably this was this in the old boathouse - perhaps with Dndy Sadler? Exhibition address 1908 -HGrey Cotman Cup (for swimmin) given to Hemingfords Regatta.1905. Then lived in the Quadrant , St Ives with a studio in East Street 1910-16.
