Lot Notes
László Moholy-Nagy, would have defined Corpron as having a"photocreative mind". Moholy-Nagy defined this type of photographeras one that "is focused on the control of the effects forphotographic purposes rather than on the event itself..." BothMoholy-Nagy and Corpron were interested in exploring theoriginality of the photographic art form and creating uniqueimages. Learning from Moholy-Nagy's efforts and from her goodfriend György Kepes, Corpron explored the poetry of light and howit revealed and modeled forms as well as its ability to create theillusion of space. Through unconventional methods, Corprontranslated optical phenomenas into creative statements whichrevealed more than just the surface of her subjects (Sandweiss,Carlotta Corpron: Designor with Light). This and the following lotcontain primary examples of her work during the 1940s.
