The canvas has been lined. There are areas of craquelure across the surface, most noticeable in the dark pigment below the sitter's outstretched arms. May benefit from some restoration but sound generally. Ultraviolet light reveals areas of infilling across the surface, which correspond to craquelure. Also some more consolidated areas near the sitter's elbows and by centre of lower edge. Held in gilt plaster frame.
