Description:
James Clark (British, 1858-1943), Horses in a field with a stream train passing in the distance, unsigned, oil on canvas, 44.5 x 59.5cm, 17.5 x 23.5in. Condition report: The painting is in good, restored condition. The canvas has been relined and there is some craquelure across the surface of the painting. There is a small hole in the canvas in the bottom left corner of the painting. Under UV light there are minor areas of overpainting and restoration visible. The painting is ornately framed but not glazed. The frame has the odd knock and loss commensurate with age.

Examination under UV light reveals scattered areas of overpainting to each work. Work titled "Before the Hunt" with instances of chipping and loss to the edges of the paint layer. Instance of repair and overpainting to the left register of the canvas. Additional images available upon request.
