7 in. (17.8 cm.) high, excluding the marble base
Charoux was born in Vienna and studied at the Vienna School ofArts and Crafts and at the Vienna Adademy. With the advent of thethe war, Charoux emigrated to London in 1935, exhibiting at theFestival of Britain in 1951 and the South Bank Exhibition in 1952,he became an R.A. in 1956. The present work is a maquette for the life-size sculpture 'TheNeighbours' which stands in Highbury Quadrant Estate inIslington.
