Lot Notes
Charles Cattermole came from a family of artists. He is bestknown for his Civil War, historical and hunting scenes and hischoice of subject matter was strongly influenced by his uncleGeorge. In 1851 he was admitted to the architectural school at theR.A. where he exhibited from 1858. He was elected N.W.S. in 1870and served as the secretary for many years. The selection of workson offer are typical of Cattermole's ouevre and demonstrate hisability to convey the drama of historical events as well as hisattention to detail and character.
