ROGER HAMPSON (1925-1996) MONOPRINT 'Man in a flat cap' signed 21" x 14 1/2" (53.5cm x 37cm) (No. 7. in the 'Roger Hampson a Lost Landscape' Exhibition Oldham Art Gallery - quote 'This is a striking example of Hampson's early monoprint technique, made using a domestic mangle as a printing press. The image was composed on a sheet of perspex and then passed through the mangle. As only one print could be made by this method, Hampson's monoprints are relatively rare. L.S.
