Brown, signed again and titled verso, oil on canvasboard, 15.75'' H x 20'' W, est: $12,000/18,000. Visual: Generally good condition. A few isolated spots of scattered crazing. Blacklight: White and pale pigments fluoresce in the sky and across the mountain range but are presumed to be in the hand of the artist. A dime-sized spot of possible touch-up in the center. Difficult to read under blacklight. Dudley St. C. Description: Benjamin Chambers Brown (American, 1865-1942) Brown Hills on the Russian River , 1914 Signed "Benjamin C. Brown" l.l., titled and inscribed "...Painted by Benjamin C. Brown of Pasadena Cal..." on the reverse, identified in a handwritten inscription and with a label from P.J. Bachmann Fine Arts, Los Angeles, both on the paper backing. Oil on canvas mounted to paperboard, 5 3/4 x 8 3/4 in. (14.6 x 22.2 cm), framed. Condition: Minor abrasions along frame liner, surface grime. Provenance: Ex-collection of Emerson Knight (1882-1960), San Francisco, California. Condition Report: The work might benefit from cleaning. There are no other issues to report.
