Edmund Blampied (British, 1886-1966) Aunt Elizabeth signed and inscribed 'Aunt Elizabeth/by/Edmund Blampied' (on a label attached to the stretcher) oil on canvas 78.1 x 64.1 cm. (30 3/4 x 25 1/4 in.) PROVENANCE: With Taylor & Brown, Edinburgh With John Mathieson & Son, Edinburgh Private Collection, U.K. Similar compositions including a drypoint etching and watercolour (both as Aunt Elizabeth ), and two oils ( Preparations for a Lunch in a Jersey Kitchen , 1940 and Tant Elisabeth ) are also known to exist. These pictures are thought to be of Blampied's paternal aunt Elizabeth Steadman.
