THOMAS BROMLEY BLACKLOCK (SCOTTISH 1863 - 1903) THE WHITE MILL oil on board, signed 26cm x 37cm Framed Note: A Kirkcudbright artist who trained in Edinburgh. Worked mainly in oils but also did pen & ink illustrations. He originally did landscapes but began to introduce children and fairies in the 1890s. Mentally affected by a spinal condition, he committed suicide in the Clyde near Greenock. His closest friend and helper in his later years was Ewan Geddes RSW (1866 - 1935).

Lot 1075 Thomas Bromley Blacklock (1863-1903) oil on canvas, A young mufti, signed and dated 1880, 28 x 16in. Estimate £250-300 Oil on original canvas which is just starting to sag and has a number of fine surface scratches along with a few small short tears through the canvas, most notably through the sitters legs and near the signature, otherwise rather dirty with a little fine but stable craquelure running through the work, signed and titled on the left, hint of lettering or numbering in the lower right corner, in an old hardwood frame, no labels or inscriptions verso.
