Jersey Devil John Irwin Acrylic on fiberglass, signed by the artist and Zakk Wylde. Inspired by guitarist Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society. John Irwin is a Southern California native with a passion for music, the arts and action sports. A 2001 graduate of Saugus High, Irwin was heavily involved in the Hollywood rock scene before graduating from CSUN with a degree in graphic design. A dedicated guitarist for more than 15 years, Irwin mixes his passion for music with his art career, having worked with rock legend Zakk Wylde for more than three years. He currently runs John Irwin Design and lives in Santa Clarita with his wife and newborn son.

Irwin John David Bevan (1852-1940) Trafalgar: In the midst of battle, with H.M.S. Neptune's officers looking across at the dismastedhulk of the Belleisle signed 'Irwin Bevan' (lower left) pencil, watercolour and bodycolour 12 x 20 in. (30.5 x 50.8 cm.) Lot Notes H.M.S. Neptune , a 98-gun second rate built atDeptford in 1797, was the third ship in Nelson's weather column atTrafalgar and passed through the enemy line at about 12.45pm. Afterraking the stern of the French flagship Bucentaure ,compounding the damage Victory had inflicted minutesbefore, Neptune then took on the huge Spanishfour-decker Santisima Trinidad and, later still, theFrench '74' Intripide . H.M.S. Belleisle , another '74', had been hotly engaged byseveral enemy ships and, by 3.00pm., had been reduced to littlemore than a hulk when she found herself rescued by the arrival ofthree British vessels to deflect the enemy fire. Such was thedamage sustained by Belleisle however, she could nolonger fight on yet, unbowed, her commander Captain Hargood hadnever contemplated surrender.

Irwin John David Bevan (1852-1940) H.M.S. Marlborough going into action at Jutland signed and inscribed 'H M S Marlborough/Vice Adml. Sir CecilBurney. KCB. KCMG/Leading the battle ships into action. JutlandBank/31 May 1916/Irwin Bevan' (lower left) watercolour 9¾ x 18½ in. (24.8 x 47 cm.) Lot Notes H.M.S. Marlborough, 25,000 tons, was laid down at Devonport inJanuary 1912 and completed in June 1914. Heavily armed and capableof steaming at over 20 knots, she and her sister ships of the "IronDuke" class were the last coal-burning battleships built for theRoyal Navy and, when scrapped, brought to an end the old 'stoking'era begun by H.M.S. Warrior in 1860. Marlborough entered the GrandFleet as 2nd Flagship and was in action at Jutland where she wastorpedoed [fired, it was believed, from the German light cruiserWiesbaden] and obliged to withdraw from the battle. Repaired on theTyne, she quickly returned to active service but even after a majorrefit in 1920-21, she fell victim to the general disarmamentmalaise and was eventually sold for breaking in 1932.
