EUGENE BERMAN (Russian/American, 1899-1972) WESTERN LANDSCAPE Signed with initials, also inscribed E Berman/ Los Angeles 1950/ Western Landscape on a label on the backboard, watercolour with pen and black ink 31 x 41cm. * Berman travelled to Italy in 1950 and saw his works in galleries alongside pictures by his heroes Salvador Dali and Marcel Duchamp. His art at that time was exploring themes of isolation, alienation and the surreal in dreamlike landscapes.
