A fine gilt copper horse weathervane attributed to J. Howard and Co. late 19th century Provenance: Purchased by the present owner at the New York City Pier show inthe 1980's. The J. Howard prancing horse, known as the "index"horse because it was featured in the 1935 compilation of Americanfolk art; The Index of American Design.
