BEATON, CECIL (1904-1980) Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn in "Marguerite And Armand." Silver print, 7 1/2 inches (19.1 cm.) square, with Beaton's copyright hand stamp on verso. 1963 Acquired from Swann Galleries, New York, New York, 2002; to the Stone Collection. Frederic Ashton's ballet "Marguerite and Armand" was the first to be written for the famous duo Nureyev and Fonteyn, who received rave reviews for the performance, with 20 curtain calls on the opening night. The costumes and set were also designed by Beaton.

ONE MOUNTED ON ORIGINAL CARD, SIGNED, DATED BY SERGE LIFAR IN THE MARGIN, TITLED, DATED IN AN UNKNOWN HAND AND WITH THE SERGE LIFAR COLLECTION STAMP ON THE REVERSE OF THE MOUNT. TWO PRINTS MOUNTED, EACH ANNOTATED, ONE DATED ON THE REVERSE. Trois tirages argentiques d'époque. Un monté sur carton d'origine, signé, daté London 1930 au feutre noir par Serge Lifar dans la marge inférieure, et titré, daté au crayon d'une main inconnue et avec le tampon de la collection Serge Lifar au verso du montage. Deux tirages montés sous passe-partout. Chacun annoté l'Ecossaise au crayon et un daté 1930 d'une main inconnue au verso.
