This painting was gifted to Yarmouth school master Francis Brown and his new bride in 1915 by the artist who was a near neighbour, both living in Garrison Road, Great Yarmouth. Thence by Descent.

'YARMOUTH BRIDGE'
Signed, inscribed and dated 1925, watercolour and bodycolour
35cm x 53cm (14in x 21in)
The bridge depicted is The Haven Bridge built in 1854, when it cost £60,000. It has a central opening span of 50 feet and two side spans of 65 feet each. It closed on February 20th 1928 and was replaced by the present bridge which opened in 1930.

22.5 x 14.5cm (8 7/8 x 511/16in).
Behind the market depicted here can be seen the premises of'Randell the Tailor King' and Palmers department store. Randell'spremises were situated in Deneside Austin Row, numbered 60 in theYarmouth Rows, and were subsequently absorbed by the expansion oftheir neighbour, Palmers. Palmers themselves were founded in 1837,and 173 years later retain premises in the town's MarketPlace.
