This appears to be by the same hand as a drawing formerly in the collection of Lore and Rudolf Heinemann,1 which was attributed to Barberi on the basis of comparison with a drawing in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.2 The largest group of drawings by this prolific artist is held at the Cooper Hewitt Museum, New York. Several others are published, with helpful bibliography, in Architectural, Ornament, Landscape and Figure Drawings collected by Richard Wunder.3 Barberi trained initially as a goldsmith with Luigi Valadier, but his drawings include designs for architecture, theatre sets, furniture and sculpture as well. 1.
