'THE ONE WOMAN IDEA/IL VELO DELL'ISLAM' (1929) POSTER,ITALI Description: Anselmo Ballester was famous for his beautiful film poster art and designed more than five hundred posters over a 45-year period. He is known for his work with the independent distribution company Minerva Films and with BCM, a company he created with Luigi Martinati and Alfredo Capitani, which specialised in film poster design. Ballester also worked extensively for Columbia Pictures. This early 1929 Ballester poster is wonderfully evocative, and beautifully painted. To-date no other example of this poster has surfaced Dimensions: 79 x 79 in. (201 x 201 cm) Condition Report: Linen-backed. Very good condition with the colours remaining very bright, restoration to folds, restoration to small areas of paper loss along the folds. Ballester brilliantly captures Marlon Brando's character Terry Malloy, in Brando's Oscar winning role. Directed by Elia Kazan and starring Marlon Brando, Karl Malden, Lee J. Cobb and Rod Steiger. This incredible gritty crime drama was hugely successful both commercially and critically, and won eight Academy Awards. Dimensions: 79 x 55 in. (201 x 140 cm) Condition Report: Linen-backed. Excellent condition with the colours remaining very bright, restoration to folds, restoration to paper loss around the lower cross fold level with the word 'Marlon', slight natural discolouration in the text 'Marlon'.
