Don Bachardy

Don Bachardy (born 1934) Mary Woronov, 1989 titled, dated and signed 'April 23 1989 Bachardy' (upper right) watercolor and gouache on paper 29 3/4 x 22 1/4in (75.6 x 56.5cm) Actress, artist and author Mary Woronov is arguably best known for her roles in cult films such as Death Race 2000 (1975), Rock 'n' Roll High School (1979) and perhaps most notably Eating Raoul (1982). Prior to these acting roles, Woronov was one of Andy Warhol's superstars, along with other notables such as Edie Sedgwick. Woronov was featured in many of the experimental films created at the Warhol Factory, including Exploding Plastic Inevitable (1966). In 2000, Woronov's memoir Swimming Underground: My Years in the Warhol Factory was published by Serpent's Tail, London.

Don Bachardy (American, born 1934) Dan Gerischer, 1983 signed 'Bachardy' (lower right) and titled and dated '21 Feb 83'(on the reverse) acrylic on gessoed canvas 35 1/2 x 29in Note: The subject of this painting, Don Gerischer, was a close friend ofDon Bachardy and his life partner Christopher Isherwood (author ofmany celebrated novels including A Single Man , now a TomFord film). During the final months of Isherwood's life, Gerischerlived with the couple and helped care for Isherwood. In gratitudefor Gerischer's assistance, Bachardy gave this portrait to him as agift. It is a rare example of a Bachardy portrait on canvas.

She also achieved great success on Broadway asthe lead in the original production of Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate.More recently, she has devoted herself to painting and has hadseveral exhibitions in the Los Angeles area.
