Finely painted portrait of a girl in dirndl and straw hat; paintings by Josef Büche with figures in traditional costume fetch up to €5,500 at international auctions

The oil painting by Austrian painter Josef Büche was created in 1880. It depicts a young girl in traditional costume wearing a dirndl and straw hat. Büche painted next to portraits of members of the imperial family preferably rural genre scenes or motifs from South Tyrol, especially portraits of people in traditional costume, as it is presented in our painting.
The painting is signed and dated lower right \‘J. Büche 1880\’\’\’\’. It is in good age-appropriate condition. At the edges few small touch-ups. One spot at the hat shows minimal loss of color, left from it with a light pressure mark. Overall light craquelure. The dimensions are 79 x 63 cm, the framed size is 117 x 98 cm. The splendid frame with only slight signs of wear.
