This work from the Austrian landscape painter Alois Arnegger shows a coastline of Naples overlooking to Mount Vesuvius. In the left foreground, a slope with traditional Italian buildings and luxuriant vegetation is visible. The slope descends towards the center and directs the view towards a dense built-up, slightly blurred coastal strip. On the deep turquoise blue water, boats with white sails set some accents.
