oil on canvas Condition Note: Canvas is lined. SURFACE: while there is still some texture to the surface (particularly on the figures and their Grecian costumes) and colors and detail retention is good, scattered areas of the background have been compressed with relining and in some cases, the canvas weave shows through UNDER ULTRA VIOLET: scattered inpainting--a few spots on the blond Ismene's elbow and her fingers, on Antigone's left hand; much of Antigone's head/face is strengthened; inpainting scattered throughout upper left quadrant (in sky) We are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described in our catalogue. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report.
