Fratelli Alinari (born after 1854-died after 1920) & others, late 19th Century/early 20th Century, Italian ALBUM OF 58 VINTAGE VIEWS OF ITALY: INCLUDING FLORENCE, VENICE, SIENNA, AND ASSISI A collection of 58 albumen prints covering various categories of Italian architecture, city squares, interiors, stone, mosaic work and other architectural motifs mainly from the Medieval period in Italy. Thirty-nine photographs are contained in a 3 ring binder with a 3-ring paper strip mounted down the left side to each photograph, with 19 loose, un-mounted photographs at the back; including photographic prints by Alinari; Giacomo Brogi; Osvaldo Bohm; Raphael Bordalo-Pinheiro and other unidentified photographers; most with labels signed, titled and numbered in the plate along the bottom edge. Contained in a three ring binder. Each plate approximately 10.40" x 8.00", 26.50 cm x 20.20 cm Founded in Florence in 1852 Fratelli Alinari is the oldest photography archive in the world. The birth of photography and the story of the archive are linked, as attested by the fund of over 3,500,000 photographs. The Archives and the Museum of History of Photography preserved the originals (glass plates, negative of films, vintage prints, colour photos) of the most Italian and non-Italian photographers ranging from the Alinari production to the present.
