Lot 1096 Cecil Aldin (1870-1935) pencil and crayon on ivory, Studies of a Chihuahua beside a water bowl and a Beagle, both signed, 3.75 x 5in. Estimate £400-600 Image of Chihuahua - ivory remains fairly white with just a little yellowish discolouration around the margins, remainder of images good with no further faults noted. Ivory of hounds looks like slightly yellower and has dropped in the mount but otherwise is in good order. Both signed and both in plain brown mount and modern gilt frame. Description:
Cecil Aldin (1870-1935) pen and ink, Study of a seated terrier, signed and dated '07, 11.5 x 7.25in. Ink on paper in fairly good untouched condition, a trace of acid staining running around the mount, one or two small fox marks and a few small dirt specks, some of which are on the inside of the glass rather than the work itself. In a crudely cut old card mount and slim ebonised frame, no labels verso.
