Boleslaw Jan Czedekowski (1885 Wojnilow Galicia - 1969 Vienna) was an internationally renowned Polish portrait painter who lived and worked in the USA, Paris and Vienna. He studied at the Vienna Academy under R. Bacher and K. Pochwalski and began exhibiting in 1911. After World War I he moved to New York, where he succeeded as a portrait painter of high society patrons. In 1923 he moved to Paris and spent every summer in Poland. In France Czedekowski was honoured with the title of Chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur in 1934. From 1938 to 1948 he lived in Vienna and from 1946 to 1957 he lived in the USA. He died in Vienna in 1969.
