Executed in 1993 Read Condition Report Read Condition Report Register or Log-in to view condition report Saleroom Notice The colours of this work are brighter and more vibrant than they appear in the catalogue illustration, and the buttons are glistening. This work is in excellent overall condition as viewed. There is evidence of very few areas of hairline craquelure at areas of thicker impasto, stable. There are few small areas of paint loss, example at purple pigment at flower at center (visible in the catalog illustration), but the paint layers are healthy overall. Framed. Pacita Abad travelled extensively as an artist and the periods that comprise her works are marked by the many places she had visited or resided in. "Joker," the title of this piece from 1990, was made during the tail-end of Abad's return and four-year stay in Washington, DC. During this time, she also visited Mexico wherein its rich culture served as an influence in her art.

PACITA ABAD (The Philippines 1946-Singapore 2004) Feel the beat! signed and dated 'pacita '03' (lower right) 38-colour, coloured paper pulp, lithograph, linocut, photo-polymer relief, collage embellishments on handmade cream STPI paper 42 x 32 in. (106.7 x 81.3 cm.) Executed in 2003, this work is number eight from an edition of thirteen monoprints. Exhibited Singapore, Singapore Tyler Print Institute, Circles in my mind, 31 October 2003 - 25 January 2004, exhibition catalogue, plate 7. This exhibition later travelled to Manila, Philippines, Cultural Centre of the Philippines, 9 September - 31 October 2004. Lot Notes Feel the beat! is one of Pacita Abad's most colorful of the 56 prints and paper pulp pieces that she did as a visiting artist at the Singapore Tyler Print Institute (STPI). The artwork incorporates 38 colours combining the techniques of lithography, relief painting, screen printing and hand-colored paper pulp. This print was exhibited as part of Pacita's show Circles in my mind at STPI in November 2003. In Feel the beat! Pacita incorporated glitter, beads and fabric within the artwork's different circular designs. After the print was completed, Pacita added some touches of colours, so that each of the print editions is unique. In Feel the beat! you can truly appreciate Pacita's mastery and love of colours.
