signed and dated lower centre: aartman: fec: 1756 bears inscription in black ink on the mount: november pen and grey ink and wash over traces of black chalk this lot contains 1 item(s). provenance:frederik carel theodoor baron van isendoorn à blois (l.1407 with numbering 306 in black chalk below) aartman seems to have made more than one series of representations of the months. one complete set, with dates ranging between 1756 and '59, is in the leiden printroom, but the november composition is completely different from this. another drawing representing october, also dated 1756 and also from the isendoorn à blois collection, was sold, london, sotheby's, 22nd october 1984 (lot 1); again, the composition was different from that of the corresponding month in the leiden series.
